About Me

Hi, I'm Edy – IT Consultant & Tech Blogger

With over 20 years of hands-on experience in IT, I help readers in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Europe make better decisions about infrastructure, virtualization, and web technologies that work anywhere.

On this site, I document real-world setups and tools I actually use — from quiet home servers and Proxmox labs to WordPress.

What This Website Is About

Edywerder.ch is my personal tech blog where I document real-world IT setups, troubleshoot server problems, and share what actually works — and what doesn’t.

My audience spans the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Europe, so I highlight differences that matter — from hardware availability and voltage standards to cloud services and hosting options.

Whether you’re experimenting with Proxmox in a homelab, building a quiet server, or tuning a WordPress site, you’ll find practical advice based on hands-on experience and real testing.

I don’t write theory or fluff — everything here comes from real work and the desire to help others avoid the same pitfalls.

My Homelab Setup

Behind every article I write is a fully functional homelab that I maintain and upgrade regularly. It’s where I test new technologies before recommending them — from Proxmox virtualization and Veeam backups to Synology NAS, FreePBX, and Fortigate firewalls.

If you’re curious how I build and test real-world IT solutions, this is the best place to start.

Need Help with IT or Accounting?

While this website is focused on sharing knowledge, I also work with selected clients on freelance projects in Switzerland — both in IT and accounting.

If you’re looking for hands-on help with IT infrastructure, backups, WordPress, or bookkeeping, here’s where you can find me:

Both websites are in German and primarily tailored for local clients in Switzerland. However, I’m also open to remote projects and have worked with international clients in the past — feel free to get in touch if you think we’re a good fit.

My Background in Brief

I’ve worked in IT for over 20 years — from managing enterprise infrastructure to supporting small businesses and individuals. One of my key roles was as IT Manager at Baker McKenzie Zurich, where I led a major IT restructuring and supported over 200 users.

Since then, I’ve worked with various clients in architecture, industry, and legal services — helping them with virtualization, backups, phone systems, server migrations, and secure remote work setups.

Today, I continue to support businesses across Switzerland, while also sharing my experience through this blog. I work with tools like

In addition to my IT experience, I also hold a Swiss federal diploma in accounting. This unique combination allows me to support clients with both technical and financial systems — and understand how IT supports real business needs.

— always hands-on, always tuned for real-world needs.
